“The House of Falek” is a 30 minute documentary short –

a hybrid of vérité road movie, historical investigation and personal essay – chronicling the search by Director

George Lerner for family who perished in the Holocaust.

It's a journey back in time, as Lerner seeks to learn not just how his family died, but how they lived. At the heart of the film lies the Falek home, in Jasło, Poland, where the filmmaker’s great-grandparents – Chaim and Golda Falek – served beer, vodka and sour milk to local farmers.

Filmed over three decades, Lerner tracked down surviving witnesses, dug deep into the historical record, and returned to Jasło to film the haunting sights and hollow sounds of the family home, now abandoned.
